Brooke Plunkett nominated for Women in Resources National Award

Earlier this year, Brooke Plunkett Organisational Development Specialist at CMOC-Northparkes Mines (Northparkes), won the Exceptional Young Woman in Mining award at the annual Women in Mining Industry & Suppliers Awards hosted by the NSW Minerals Council.

The winners were announced at a dinner and ceremony held at NSW Parliament House. Brooke was recognised for a number of programs she has implemented to better connect the community with Northparkes, such as the Volunteer Leave Program, the 2015 Northparkes Open Day and the Make Your Mark campaign, which showcased the benefits of working at Northparkes.

Brooke will travel down to Sydney this week to attend the Rio Tinto Women in Resources National Awards (WIRNA) at NSW Parliament House as a finalist in the Exceptional Young Woman category. The WIRNA recognise and celebrate the contributions and achievements of women and gender diversity champions across Australia’s resources sector.

The national awards are held by mining and energy chambers and women in mining networks across Australia as part of the industry’s commitment to improving inclusion and diversity across Australia’s resources workforce. Award winners will be announced this Thursday at a presentation dinner hosted by the NSW Minerals Council.

Hubert Lehman, Northparkes Managing Director, said, “We are extremely proud of Brooke and all her achievements and we wish her all the best at the awards dinner this Thursday. It is great to see her being recognised not only locally but nationally within the mining industry.
