Northparkes Community Investment Program successful recipients announced

Community Investment Program H1 2022 Summary and Committee Applications

The Northparkes Community Investment Program was first introduced in 2011. Northparkes runs its Community Investment Program twice a year, with $50,000 donated each round. $40,000 is a contribution from Northparkes Mines and $10,000 is a contribution from Triple Flag. Since its inception, over $910,000 has been invested in the Parkes and Forbes Shires.

Northparkes Mines Managing Jianjun Tian said, “Our ongoing contributions to Parkes and Forbes Shire is critical to the future success of our operations in the region. Northparkes is a residential mine, and we invest in the future of our community through meaningful partnerships to support our people and communities. The Community Investment Program has been a successful program and supports our organisation’s vision of “a century of mining, together”.

“During round one of the Community Investment Program for 2022, we received a range of high-quality applications, and the final decisions for allocating the funding is always an extremely difficult decision for our committee.”

The Community Investment Program has an independent committee, made up of local community members of Parkes and Forbes to review the applications and allocate the available funding. This involves ensuring the applications meet the economic, social, environmental, cultural, recreational and educational needs of the local communities.

During the recent months, a valued committee member, Murray Field passed away. The Northparkes team and the local communities mourn the loss of a friend and colleague.

Manager – People, Safety and Environment Stacey Kelly said, “The passing of Murray Field is a great loss to our community. It was a pleasure getting to work with Murray over the years. Murray provided incredible insight and detail to the program, and his contributions are highly valued. We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge Murray’s years of dedication to the committee.”

Northparkes will be accepting applications for volunteers to join the Community Investment Program committee. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing applications and allocating the available funding to promote the sustainable development of the Parkes and Forbes Shires.

The second round of the 2022 Community Investment Program is open now, closing October 31.
