Indigenous scholarships

“Ultimately, I will be a mile in front of my peers as a result of the experience I have gained from my scholarship.”
Michael Thomas, Northparkes Indigenous Scholarship Holder and Environmental Science student.

Northparkes Indigenous Scholarships provide financial support and encouragement to students interested in a career in the mining industry, in addition to those who wish to pursue non-technical degrees in other fields.

Successful applicants receive between $5,000 (non technical) and $10,000 (technical) funding each year of their university studies.

Examples of non-technical careers

  • Nursing
  • Occupational Health/Safety/Science
  • Physiotherapy
  • Accounting
  • Environmental Science
  • Community Relations
  • Human Resources/Training

Examples of technical careers

  • Mining Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Metallurgy
  • Geoscience

In addition to financial support, recipients are also provided with a laptop to assist with their tertiary studies.

We provide constant support throughout your studies, and work placement opportunities during uni holidays. This ensures scholarship holders can attend, enjoy and eventually obtain employment in their chosen field.

Nine Indigenous tertiary students are currently supported by the program.

Applications for the 2017 Indigenous Scholarship Program have now closed.
